Sarah-Hope is still at Stitches West, but asked me (this is Melissa writing…) to post the pattern that she is sharing at the convention. It’s called the Point Lobos Hat. Click here to download a pdf file of the pattern. Personally, I refer to it as the Venus of Willendorf Hat, but whatever it’s called, it’s very cool.
Thank you! I love your hats, and keep up the great work!
This a is a great hat! I’ll definitely keep checking back for more of your great designs.
A question re: Point lobos eyelet ridge hat: Should the decrease (round 3) be on a pearl round?
Thanks.
Mary
No, Mary–
I wrote the pattern so there are no decreases on the purl rounds, only on knit rounds.
jan 7 2009 i was looking at your site and found a nice hat pattern point lobo hat but i cant seen to be able to print it out
I have the same question as Mary re: point lobos hat. I was doing fine until the decrease rounds and now everything looks wrong. It seems like a purl round (round 3)is missing in each set and the ridges don’t look right. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? And how do I get the same ridge look without round 3 being purled? Thanks, Wendi
Wendi and Mary, You’re right, there’s an error in the pattern. When you hit the decreases, rounds 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 should be worked as in the original. Rounds 4, 6, and 8 should have the decreases. My apologies!
Made some edits based on the changes above, also makes it easy to follow. Hopefully I didn’t mess it up, lol.
