  1. Finally! But hey, you could always come on up to Canada and get hitched. 🙂 Vancouver is gorgeous this time of year.

  2. What great news…I’m so happy for you! Thanks for the birthday greetings in advance..it’ll be here before I know it (much like your wedding day 🙂 )

  3. yay you guys!! Better get planning, the weddings are happening in droves…. Congrats – will you knit a special shawl?

  4. Congratulations!! Here in Mass that is “old hat” now. I have conflicting feelings. I am very happy for the residents of California, however, I am worried that the Republicans will use this against the Democrats, it worked against John Kerry in 2004 to some extent. I’m sure the current candidates will be grilled about the issue, so I am a little concerned. I don’t get what the fuss is about, we’ve had it here quite a while now and there has been little or no trouble. For awhile they had a series of stories about some women that had been together for 35 or more years and could finally be married and recognized! The articles were very touching!

  5. I know I don’t actually “know” you, but I read your blog from time to time and when I saw the announcement on the news I remembered a particular post about wishing you could be married. For some reason it had stuck with me.
So the news reminded me of you, and I imagined you were celebrating. Congratulations!

  6. Fantastic news, Sarah-Hope and Melissa!

I’m not quite sure how I stumbled across your blog last year, S-H, but I’m so glad that I did! Not only have I found and enjoyed your blog, with all its knitting wonders; but I’ve also found out about your sooper-dooper partner, Melissa, who is my most fave artist of all time!

Good luck, you two – you deserve the best! (and I hope that you’ll let us know the date of your wedding…)

  7. For those of us who have the distinct honor of knowing Sarah-Hope and Melissa in the flesh as well as through this blog, there could not be no happier news than knowing about their wedding plans. I am very serious when I say that these women are truly two of the kindest and most generous spirits I have known in my 56 years of life. I am misting up just thinking about it.

  8. It’s so wonderful…I am crossing my fingers that people everywhere will embrace this step forward in thinking – the news made me feel cheery about the state of our state for the first time in a long time. And on a personal level, I’m very happy for you and Melissa, and for my other friends…especially for my daughters’ teen friends who will be affected one day. They are so thrilled with the prospect and possibility of growing up in a world that will recognize them as being equally entitled to what the rest of us enjoy – no more, no less. Here’s hoping we all continue to evolve as compassionate human beings, with no backsliding!

  9. A little late to the party (I’ve been under the weather), but so excited for you!
    Carpe diem, indeed!

Thea’s comment made me laugh, a little, to myself; *will* you knit a special shawl? More like, which special shawl will you knit? And will you knit two?

Congratulations to you both, I’m so happy you are going to be able to pledge yourselves to each other in front of your friends and loved ones. They can’t take that away from you.
