Sometimes a cat’s full name is immediately apparent. Sometimes it reveals itself gradually.
A few years ago, after much discussion, we realized Damian has a middle name: Vaslav, after the great Nijinsky, of course. More recently another revelation descended: for all five years of his life, Damian had been using Melissa’s last name, but that’s not his real last name. His real last name is
Pantalones de Queso y ¡Qué!
(For those of you who don’t speak Spanish, that can be translated as “Cheezy Pants—wanna make something of it?”)
Damian Vaslav Pantalones de Queso y ¡Qué!
It suits him, don’t you think?
Absolutely, it suits him! Such A-T-T-I-T-U-D-E does his portrait display!
Two of our cats were named Dutch Willy and Spider Louie. Dutch had Holland rabbit markings, and Spider had a spiral mark on his body that reminded us of a web.
He wears it with such dignity!
Hi Sarah-Hope,
I’m envious that Ellen got to meet all three cats this weekend! and spend time with you and Melissa. I really hope your bronchitis clears up soon.
Rufus also had a spanish alias – Runfando Alejandro. I don’t really have a full name for Dinsdale yet, even though I’ve known him for 20 years now. Dins and Catsterboo both seem to fit him well.
Best wishes,
LeeAnn
